1780s Lady Elizabeth Foster Dress

I've always loved the dress Lady Elizabeth Foster is wearing in my inspiration picture, so decided to make it with the abunance of muslin I seem to be collecting. The portrait dates from 1784, and shows Lady Elizabeth wearing a chemise dress. I decided to alter this a little, and make it more of an early round gown with a very chemise dress 'feel'. This is much more like the dress worn by Madame Lavoisier. I decided to draft my own pattern for this amalgamation of ideas.

For the unusual waistband I attached some black satin ribbon to some gold pattern ribbon to get the feel, if not create an exact replica, of the original.
